Colors of April

We headed to Key West this past weekend, both hubby and I were in need of a day trip on my way I thought I'd post the Colors of April with the pics I took over the weekend. This way a fun relaxing day for us the drive is always great and Key West has a lot of history and local wackiness to keep you entertain, I'll post some other pics of that a bit later in the week. A hybrid Hibiscus in the morning sunlight. Purple bougainvillea in full bloom, these are beautiful, but have long thorns, usually they are used as a barrier because of the thorns.

Banana tree flowers, they look like birds of paradise.

A local at Mallory Square pier, these pilings are for the cruise ships that stop here.

Metal Sculpture Art, very Key West you see these all over the exterior walls of homes in the area. They're whimsical and fun much like the place itself.
Anne's Beach, Mile Marker 73, Overseas Highway, Lower Matecumbe Key, oceanside.

We made a trip down to Key West before moving to New Mexico. It was a fun mini vacation.

That's all looking down right summery! Lovely photos. I was there many many years ago. Right now, I'm looking at snow. Trade ya? :-)

Looks and sounds like a fun trip. It's a place I'd like to go someday. The gecko is so cute and colorful! We have a collection of those hanging here and there inside and outside our home. :-)

My parents love Key West, but I've yet to get there. I love the idea of a divider plant (hedge) with purple flowers and thorns. Look, but don't touch or cross this line!!

Lovely photos and colors. I didn't realize bougainvillea has thorns. Around here it's a tender plant with no chance of a life on it's own outdoors.

nice photos, thanks for sharing your trip! I am longing for summer, so it was nice to see water, beach and flowers.

So much fun to see this month from your corner of the world. I love this time of the month, where we get to show off our locale. Yours is mighty purty, ma'am.

That's really early for the bougainvillea and hisbiscus to bloom! Even in the South of France where we were earlier this month, they didn't yet! And here in Holland it won't be till June for the hisbiscus to bloom and the bougainville... alas: too cold. I keep trying, but no luck yet. Therefore I loved your pictures! Thanks!

Great colors of April!!! It's fun to see how different things are in other places!

I love, love, love hibiscus. I used to have an indoor on in our sunroom...but it was never really happy.

I just planted a Rose of Sharon, which is a hardy hibiscus....so maybe I'll get some small fraction of the loveliness of the hibiscus you photographed!!

Happy spring!
